Hair Provides Proof of the Link Between Chronic Stress and Heart Attack Researchers at The University of Western Ontario have provided the first direct evidence using a biological marker, to show chronic stress plays an important role in heart attacks.
Stressors such as job, marital and financial problems have been linked to the increased risk for developing cardiovascular disease including heart attack. But there hasn't been a biological marker to measure chronic stress. Drs. Gideon Koren and Stan Van Uum developed a method to measure cortisol levels in hair providing an accurate assessment of stress levels in the months prior to an acute event such as a heart attack.
The research is published on-line in the journal Stress.
Cortisol is considered to be a stress hormone. Its secretion is increased during times of stress. Traditionally it's been measured in serum, urine and saliva, but that only shows stress at the time of measurement, not over longer periods of time. Cortisol is also captured in the hair shaft.
"Intuitively we know stress is not good for you, but it's not easy to measure," explains Dr. Koren, who holds the Ivey Chair in Molecular Toxicology at Western's Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry. "We know that on average, hair grows one centimetre (cm) a month, and so if we take a hair sample six cm long, we can determine stress levels for six months by measuring the cortisol level in the hair"...

New Evidence That Caffeine Is a Healthful Antioxidant in Coffee Scientists are reporting an in-depth analysis of how the caffeine in coffee, tea, and other foods seems to protect against conditions such as Alzheimer's disease and heart disease on the most fundamental levels.
The report, which describes the chemistry behind caffeine's antioxidant effects, appears in ACS' The Journal of Physical Chemistry B. Annia Galano and Jorge Rafael León-Carmona describe evidence suggesting that coffee is one of the richest sources of healthful antioxidants in the average person's diet. Some of the newest research points to caffeine (also present in tea, cocoa, and other foods) as the source of powerful antioxidant effects that may help protect people from Alzheimer's and other diseases. However, scientists know little about exactly how caffeine works in scavenging the so-called free radicals that have damaging effects in the body. And those few studies sometimes have reached contradictory conclusions.
In an effort to bolster scientific knowledge about caffeine, they present detailed theoretical calculations on caffeine's interactions with free radicals. Their theoretical conclusions show "excellent" consistency with the results that other scientists have report from animal and other experiments, bolstering the likelihood that caffeine is, indeed, a source of healthful antioxidant activity in coffee...
For Weight Loss, Eating Less After 8 P.M. Might Help Increasingly, studies show, getting the right amount of sleep is critical to maintaining a healthy weight. But does it matter when we sleep? A new study suggests that, yes, timing may be key: people who stay up late and sleep in tend to have worse diets, eat more at night and gain more weight, compared with those who go to bed at a reasonable hour.
Previous research in mice has demonstrated that messing with the animals' sleep and circadian rhythm — the body's internal clock, which is tied to the 24-hour day's light-dark cycle — causes them to eat at the wrong times and gain weight. The results were similar in the current study, led by researchers at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine, who said it is the first to examine the relationship between the circadian rhythm, diet and weight in humans.
For one week, 51 people (23 late sleepers and 28 normal sleepers), aged 18 to 71, were asked to record what they ate in a food log — including time and types of food — and to wear a wrist actigraph that monitored their sleep and wake cycles.
On average, the late sleepers went to bed at 3:45 a.m., awoke by 10:45 a.m., ate breakfast at noon, lunch at 2:30 p.m., dinner at 8:15 p.m. and had their final meal at 10 p.m. Normal sleepers, by contrast, were asleep by 12:30 a.m., woke up around 8 a.m., had breakfast by 9 a.m., lunch at 1 p.m., dinner at 7 p.m. and their last snack around 8:30 p.m.
Being a night owl appeared to do more harm than good: for starters, people who stayed up late got less sleep overall (5 hrs. 33 mins. versus 6 hrs. 38 mins. for normal sleepers). Worse, compared with early-to-bed-early-to-risers, late sleepers had a much less healthful diet: they ate more fast food (five meals per week, compared with the normal sleepers' three), drank more full-calorie soda (4.5 servings per week versus 1.3) and got significantly fewer fruits and vegetables (1.9 servings per day versus 3.4)...
Thinking like sheep: High Cholesterol Is NOT A Disease Oh...to live in one of the world richest countries. It's so hard. Poor us.
We have so many terrible risks we face every day...like clean water, ample food supplies, and not enough of us are taking statins.
Yes, you read that right. We're at terrible risk from underuse of the world's number one selling drug.
Don't believe me about this looming danger? Just open a recent Time magazine that reported on a new cholesterol/statin review in the Bulletin of the World Health Organization.
Down in the dumps
"Results are depressing," says the Time author.
The review found that "effective medication coverage for control of high cholesterol remains disappointingly low"...

Wiley Protocol For Your Face - Lipogenerative Creme can turn back the clock…
Remember the full face of youth? That plump fullness meant smooth, glowing skin, that reflected the light and was velvety to the touch. What if you could rebuild beauty from your hormones up and recover that? The Wiley Protocol for Your Face is a crème that can provide this option by replenishing the fat base just below the skin which plumps up and smooth's the crepe-y fine lines that make us look old. As you age, you lose collagen in lock-step with diminishing levels of estrogen. Since there are estrogen receptors everywhere in your body, especially in the skin. Dermatologists have long noted that systemic hormone therapy seems to improve the appearance of aging skin all by itself. Studies have shown that estrogen, when applied in a cream can penetrate the skin because of its small molecular size. Estrogen is documented to increase the production of collagen, giving skin thickness and resiliency . This crème is non-greasy and absorbs quickly.

|

Celeste Yarnall

I am a 42 year old breast cancer survivor, and I have been struggling with hormonal imbalance and weight issues since completing chemotherapy and to top it all off a hysterectomy over a year ago. I have been searching for a solution other than pharmaceuticals to just feel healthy and alive again after many years of suffering. I have been seeing Dr. Bloem for about a month and I have never felt better. I wish I had met Dr. Bloem 5 years ago... Read More...

Wiley Protocol hormone therapy has positively changed my life in so many ways. I've been on the protocol for almost a year now and cannot say enough good things about it. I had been diagnosed with early ovarian failure at the age of 27. Needless to say, there were many ways that my body was rebelling against the hormonal imbalance. For the better part of 10 years, I struggled to find the right hormone replacement. All of the options that had been given to me only consisted of various types of birth control pills. I switched pills multiple times, trying to find the pill that made me feel like the 'real' me. Little did I know at the time, the reduction in estrogen and progesterone affected me more than I realized. Slowly but surely, after taking pill after pill, I just started to fall apart – physically, mentally... Read More...

Wiley Protocol Experts Answer Your Question:
|
|
|
Q: Is the Wiley Protocol a guaranteed form of birth control? Will women get pregnant if they are taking the Wiley Protocol or will they absolutely not?
|
A: It really all depends on the reproductive age of the patient. In earlier times, before IVF, OB-Gyn's used a protocol very similar to the Wiley Protocol to produce a situation known then as "womb ripening." The Wiley Protocol can be used that way also. If a woman has reached menopause, even though she still may be menstruating, she cannot become pregnant because she has no viable eggs. Generally speaking the WP can be used as contraception after 3-6 months because the ovaries go to sleep just like with birth control pills and it prompts a bleed each cycle.

Lights Out
This fascinating, thought-provoking study discusses the central role of sleep in our lives. After probing the scientific literature, T.S. Wiley and Formby, researchers at the Sansum Medical Research Institute, conclude that, "the disastrous slide in the health of the American people corresponds to the increase in light-generating night activities and the carbohydrate consumption that follows.

F.Y.I... We have been told that there are many pharmacies around the country claiming to make the Wiley Protocol. Unless your hormones come in our color coded packaging (green and purple for women, blue and burgundy for men), it says Wiley all over and the pharmacy has our sign in their window, they have not registered with us to make the authentic Wiley Protocol. You would be getting a generic product that will not stand up to federal scrutiny for scientific study. Please make sure your provider abides by our patent and trademarks and sends your prescription to a Wiley Registered Pharmacy.
